Hello!

Just wanted to drop a short note to you to wish you the absolute best with your online endeavor to enliven the woodworking ‘industry’,reintroduce people to good quality artwork and, and provide a place for fellow woodworkers to network and band together to keep the absolute talent of woodworking alive not just in Maine but everywhere.

I was saddened to read of the fire that led to the close of your wood shop in nearby Gardiner, but was so enlightened to read of the community support that you have received in the aftermath.  It brought tears to my eyes to read some of your blogging.

My Dad is a cabinetmaker.  I am so proud to say that.  He is wonderful with his hands, still, although he’s now in his early 60s.  I treasure every item he has created for me in my lifetime, from simple picture frames, to a chest of drawers that has successful withstood over 30 years of hard use, to the simple stool that sits just inside our entry way.  I have seen my father work out of his own cabinet shop…and in a number of different cabinet shops in his time.  Now, on the tail end of his working years, he is tired…and unemployed…but still so creative in mind, and skilled with his hands. I love him dearly for doing his best to stick with a true art that does not, unfortunately especially in Maine, return back to the creator all that they deserve for the heart and soul that is put into every piece of work they create.

Again, keep up the good work with your hands…and the www.MaineFurniture.org website…

Thank you.
